THE VETO IN THE UN: ANOTHER FORM OF REPRESSION IMPERIAL

J. A. Morasan *

To few days that Palestinian Authority will submit to the UN request for ratification as an independent and sovereign state and
with it to happen to be a full member of the United Nations, read us the following comments:
"Palestine, to a great moral victory. Date approaches in Palestine in the General Assembly will receive UN recognition it deserves as an independent and sovereign member of the organization with more than two thirds of the votes. No less than 130 and probably between 140 and 150 of the 193 countries that comprise it.

Knowing that this outcome is inevitable, Obama and Mrs. Clinton have been done all in its power to deter the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) to present the proposal, including the threat of a veto if the item was moved to Council Security (CS). But senior U.S. officials admit privately that the White House wants to "avoid campaigning for the veto because it could be left alone to America in the attempt." In any case, the superpower and its Zionist godson will be in a position of undeniable international isolation when the topic is discussed at the GA. It is very graphic in a cable sent by Ron Prosor Tel Aviv, Israel's ambassador to the UN: "The most we can hope to achieve is a group of States will abstain or absent during the vote." "Only a few countries vote against the Palestinian initiative," he adds.

The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) has been before the only alternative to bring this matter to the AG, but has made it clear that does not leave the negotiations sponsored by the Quartet (U.S., EU, Russia and the UN). And is that 17 years after the Oslo accords the PA has not managed a single concession of Zionism in the negotiating table. " (Cabrera. Angel Guerra / La Jornada / Rebellion).

In 1967, after the outbreak of one of the many Arab-Israeli war by the "Palestinian question", it concluded with Israel important territorial advantages at the expense of Egypt lost the entire Sinai Peninsula, Syria in turn strategic Golan Heights, Lebanon, on Israel border which established additional security strip, and Jordan, which lost its grip on the sector in Jerusalem, in addition to losing the whole of the West Bank territories in the east bank of Jordan. Israel expanded its territory to 78% (even though the original plan had already awarded 55%). Staying in Palestine only the territories of Gaza under Egyptian administration, and the West Bank, which was annexed by Jordan. From that time to the Israeli occupiers have kept the Palestinian people under siege and under fire, against all norms of international law.

In brief the General Assembly of the United Nations, once again address the situation of Palestine, which must ratify and give effect to the series of rulings issued on the case, since the resolution 181. According to the president of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), Abu Mazen, to date they have the backing of more than 150 countries (77.3%), which recognized them, hoping to get before the date on which it takes place General Assembly, the confirmation of other members.

"The Arab League plans to call on behalf of the Palestinians, to recognize the 'State of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital', and declare it a full member of the United Nations, according to the draft statement of the Monitoring Committee Arabic, which meets in Qatar. "The Arab League was founded in March 1945 by seven Arab countries, now comprising 22 countries as well are part of the Organization of Islamic Conference, along with other countries." (July 14, 2011 / Elpais.com).

With the 22 votes of the Arab League, which has expressed its support for the Palestinian project, summary 172 votes, ie 88.6% of the total, which exceeds the absolute majority, without counting the votes that join between now and the date of General Assembly. The fundamental principle of democracy, states that one vote makes a difference, so I'd be widely recognized since the status of Palestine, minus appoint its representative to the highest international body.

With this, the UN would be regaining its authority to enforce the resolutions of the General Assembly must adopt as the next step to reform its constitution in order to proceed with the restructuring of its management bodies, starting with the Security Council to
really is, from the functions, the number of members and the equitable sharing of the five continents. And more still to suppress that monstrosity called "right of veto", which is rather a supranational enforcement mechanism against the inalienable right of peoples to decide their fate and a flagrant violation of international law, above the resolutions adopted by General Assembly.

That would be the best example of democratization that could be given to the world and the starting point for achivemont of the peace based on justice, complemented by strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between countries and the prohibition of the use of force against disarmed civilians by governments, peacekeepers remain the only specifically authorized by the UN to intervene in the international area to neutralize the conflicts among its members.

NO MORE REPRESSION BY THE VETO.
